Day 1&2 - June 10&11, 2009 - Calgary to Grande Prairie to Fort Nelson

Gordon: We finally left Calgary at 10:30 am because Mike late again. Went up thru Banff and the Ice Field Parkway. Lotsa animals on the highway including goats and sheep. I was planning to stop at Grande Cache but Mike pushed me on to Grande Prairie and I forgot to fill up with gas because of him. Anyways, long story short, I ran out of gas 20 km outside of GP because of Mike (thats my story and I'm sticking with it). The only other mishap I had was dropping my camera at 120 kph.....I will be shopping for a new camera in Whitehorse. Otherwise, it has been a great trip so far in spite of Mike.

Mike: Off to a bit of a late start but made some good mileage on the first day (811km) and the weather was great; although I would of thought that a seasoned rider like Gordon might have a better handle on the range of his machine. Never the less it all worked out. Day 2 we pushed on to Dawson Creek (mile 'o') for the token pics at the monument, and then pushed on North. Gord dropped his camera on the Highway about 100km south of Ft Nelson, so we took a much need break (about an hour) and search the highway for the missing pieces and more inportantly the memory card. All-in-all it's been a great first couple of days, even in spite of Gord's mishaps.
